Charity Case Study:
The hybrid model
Coming into 2025, Make-a-Wish UK decided to
expand their partnership with realbuzz. Seeing the
growing demand for certain races and embracing
new event partners such as the Tokyo Marathon,
the team decided to purchase guaranteed teams
at Tokyo 2026 and the 2025 BMW BERLINMARATHON, both of which are part of the
Abbott World Marathon Majors.
These packages allow charities to secure entries
upfront, along with marketing promotion across
an event’s official channels, in the form of a
guaranteed team.
“We are seeing an overwhelming demand for
places, particularly in international events.
Recent insight and sector surveys have
shown that participants are willing to spend
more and travel further in order to take part
in events. So, we have started to purchase
places upfront in events where we know
there is a demand. This is particularly true
for the Abbott World Majors, as our runners
can’t get enough of this right now. This is
why we work with realbuzz in a hybrid way
as they offer us the best of both worlds.”
